Together they began a love affair with wine that brought them to San Francisco and a winery was born. We’ll taste a few selections from Cellar 33 and talk to founder John Fones about it all! Cellars 33 2012 Keefer Ranch Vineyard Chardonnay, Russian River Valley, Sonoma Winemaker Notes: Keefer Ranch, well known for producing world-class pinot noir, is significantly under-rated for it’s Chardonnay. The vineyard is meticulously farmed and maintained by the dedicated crew led by Craig Strehlow. Cellars 33 2012 Freeman Vineyard Pinot Noir, Sonoma Coast, Sonoma County Vineyard Notes:Planted in 2006 to 5 different clones, this 8 acre vineyard (also called “Gloria”) consists of Goldridge sandy loam soil and is planted with 7×4 spacing. With a southeast orientation, this steeply inclined vineyard enjoys the cooling winds coming off the Pacific and is ideally suited for pinot noir.
