Featured Guest

Matt Brophy, Brewmaster at Flying Dog Brewery, joined us to talk about some of his fab brews and the upcoming Shuckfest on 11/5 at Woodberry Kitchen. As a junior in high school, Matt Brophy found his calling: beer. But not in the way you think. He brewed his first batch of beer at age 17. From that point on, he never looked back.Ā  In 1996, in his home state of New Jersey, Brophy was an assistant brewer at Flying Fish Brewing Company. Less than a year later, he attended brewing school at the prestigious Siebel Institute in Chicago. Upon graduation, he moved to Denver, Colorado to work at Great Divide and quickly became head brewer. From Great Divide came Flying Dog, where Matt became head brewer in 2003 ā€“ moving just a few blocks down the street in Denver and later across the country to Flying Dogā€™s state-of-the-art facility in Frederick, Maryland.
