Connor Rasmussen, head mixologist at Woodberry Kitchen, joined us to talk about the farm inspired cocktails you can expect at the Farm to Chef fundraiser on 9/24. Connor and other members of the Baltimore Bartenders Guild will pair up with local farms to create inspiring cocktails to benefits the Days of Taste program.

The Red Hickory

1.5 oz. Bluecoat Gin
1.25 oz. Simple Syrup infused with Sweet Anjou Pear and Oregano
¼ oz. Red Currant Juice
¼ oz. Black Ankle Verjus
3-4 dashes House Grapefruit Bitters
Splash of Sparkling Wine
Mix gin, simple syrup, red currant, bitters and verjus in pint glass. Shake mixtures with ice and strain into cocktail glasses. Add a splach of sparkling wine and garnish with lemon peel and thyme.

Riva Reichner Kahn, National chair of Days of Taste, joined us to talk about this discovery-based program sponsored by The American Institute of Wine & Food (AIWF), that brings together chefs, farmers and community volunteers with elementary school children to help them recognize and enjoy good, fresh food, and to encourage them to make better food choices. Riva has participated in Days of Taste in Baltimore since it began in 1998. During that time, Days of Taste in the Baltimore area has increased from 40 children in one school to over 1500 children in 22 schools last year. Riva told us all about the Farm to Chef fundraiser that will take place on 9/24 @6:30- PM at the American Visionary Art Museum.
