27 Oct Perfect Pairings for the Seasons
Sips of the Week
Today’s episode was all about one of my favorite topics—food and wine pairing! J Bitner, Associate Executive Director at the Garrett Jacobs Mansion, joined me with 3 delicious food and wine pairings…we talked about some great strategies for you to create perfect pairings and about an opportunity to join us for a night of just that on November 9th! Pairings we tasted on the show: Seafood Salad of Shrimp, Crab, and Lobster – Feudi di San Gregorio Falanghina 2012 Jerk Pork Tenderloin Sliders – Planeta Santa Cecilia Nero d’Avola 2009 Tenderloin Hoagie with Sauteed Onion, Romaine Lettuce, Tomato, & Blue Cheese Dressing – Ravenswood Besieged 2013
Kerry Dunnington, author of Tasting the Seasons joins us to talk about how you can prepare seasonal dishes that are delicious, eco-friendly and easy to make! For nearly three decades, Kerry has built a thriving business as a caterer. In 2004, with a vivacious appetite for creating innovative and diverse food combinations for her clients, Kerry published This Book Cooks. The cookbook is a collection (appetizers to desserts) of Kerry’s most loved recipes. The book’s budding popularity and Kerry’s growing reputation as a sought after caterer won her repeated invitations to serve as a food columnist, culinary judge and entertainment consultant. Food styling and professional recipe testing for chef’s recipes featured in various magazines have also been part of Kerry’s culinary career. We tasted these recipes from her book: Apricots and amaretto cream topped with a teriyaki walnut Cheddar and pecan pate with strawberry sauce Watch-it-disappear horseradish dip
