For the Gadget Person

Soiree: The Soiree fits in the neck of the bottle. As you pour, the wine is exposed to oxygen in a specially designed glass chamber. With this aerator, you can see the wine as it travels through the chamber, making the aeration fun to watch. Soiree comes with different gaskets that fit both bottles with corks and screw cap closures. It comes with a stand and can be customized with graphics for a special event or fundraiser. This is a great aerator for home or restaurant use but, given its size and that it is made of glass, traveling with the Soiree could be a bit difficult. Soiree retails for about $25. For the Young at Heart

Cookies and Corks is the brainchild of two friends who both had a passion forcookies and wine. They found their unique recipes for cookies— many with savory elements— paired nicely with the same wines they enjoyed at dinner.

Some pairings include Apricot Sage cookies with Gewurztraminer, White Cheddar Rosemary cookies with Cabernet Sauvignon and Iced lemon cookies with Prosecco. So grab a box of Cookies and Corks along with a bottle of matching wine and if you’re lucky, the recipient will share them with you. Cookies and Corks packs retail for $8 to $10 and are available at Calvert Wine and Spirits in Hunt Valley or for a list of other retailers visit: www.cookiesandcorks.com.
