Featured Gin: No. 209 Gin (5xD) Origin: San Francisco Distributor: DOPS (Call 1-800-562-4619 in MD or 1-301-839-8650 in DC) Description: Uses Sierra Nevada snow-melt as base water for distillation in a copper pots still based on the design of a Glenmorangie whisky still. Distilled 5 times rather than the tradition double distillation. In addition to Juniper and some of the other traditional botanicals No. 209 uses a unique ingredient–bergamot orange peel from Southern Italy. The extra distillation results in a smoother gin and the special blend of botanicals provide a delicate perfume of herbs, citrus and juniper berry. Recipe for Gin Rickey: Put 3 or 4 ice cubes into a tall glass. Squeeze in 1/2 lime and drop in the rind.
