Genevieve Janssens, winemaker at Robert Mondavi Winery, joined us on air to talk about her winemaking philosophy, stories from the vineyard and why her wines consistently receive such high marks from critics and wine lovers alike. Robert Mondavi Winery Napa Valley Cabernet Sauvignon 2009: True to the varietal and the region, this powerful, concentrated Cabernet Sauvignon opens with aromas of juicy black cherries and Italian plums, seamlessly transitioning to flavors of ripe dark fruit. Its rich, fleshy texture, lengthy finish, and impeccable balance impart a regal maturity to this wine that belies its true age. Retails $30 Robert Mondavi Winery Napa Valley Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon 2008: Dark blueberry and cherry aromas combine with a hint of black olive and sage to form the aromatic base of the wine. The new French oak imparts flavors of roasted coffee and dark chocolate. Fine, ripe tannins provide structure and flow to the complex, elegant finish. He shared with us some of the celebrity chef and must see sminars that will be taking place during the festival. Laurie also shared information about her FREE wine class “Wine by the Numbers” here students will take place Saturday at 3:30PM.
