Mixologists Brendan Dorr and Eric Fooy of the B&O Brasserie joined Laurie to talk Rye Whiskey and give away some tickets to their fundraiser Rye’s Up on February 23rd. Brendan mixed up a new cocktail called X that you can try along with 15 others at the event.

george dickelGeorge Dickel Rye Whiskey, Tennessee

Distillery Notes: George Dickel Rye Whisky is the only rye finished in the style that made George famous. We start with the finest rye whisky available, made from 95% rye and 5% malted barley. Then we finish it the Dickel way – chilled, then charcoal mellowed. Spicy and smoky with an exceptionally smooth finish

Bulleit Rye Whiskey, Kentucky

Distillery Notes: High rye content has always been the signature of Tom Bulleit’s distinctive bourbon. It was only a matter of time before he created a rye whiskey. Bulleit Rye is an award-winning, small batch, straight rye whiskey with a character of unparalleled spice and complexity. Released in 2011, it continues to enjoy recognition as one of the highest quality ryes available. Russet in color, with rich oaky aromas. The flavor is notably smooth, with hints of vanilla, honey, and spice. Finishes crisp and clean, with long, lingering flavors.

Who says you can’t have Cinnamon Raisin hummous? Not Blake Wollman, that’s for sure. His line of Wild Pea Hummous made here in Baltimore comes in a variety of flavors, both sweet and savory, from Pizza, Popcorn, Buffalo Wing, and Strawberry Basil to the popular Asian Fire, Mango Curry, and Black Truffle.  With over 300 flavors it’s no wonder Food Network Magazine featured his product.
